Are you concerned that you, a family member, co-worker, or friend may have issues with alcohol or drugs? Has drug or alcohol use contributed to negative consequences in your life or that of a loved one? Let us help you find the answers.

An assessment is a tool to help our counselors understand how alcohol or drugs may have impacted you or your loved one. Considering personal circumstances including physical and mental health, family relationships, substances used, work or school history, age, gender, and culture, an assessment helps determine what programming, if any, will address each person’s needs.

Assessments generally begin with a questionnaire and interview to gather information and may include drug screening and/or breath testing. Following the assessment, our counselors will make recommendations and, when requested by the client, will share findings with necessary organizations.

Getting an appointment for an assessment
For adults, confidential walk-in assessments at our Charlotte campus, 100 Billingsley Road, are provided Monday through Friday. Walk-in appointments are limited and on a first come, first served basis. If there is an extended wait for an assessment, each individual will be given the opportunity to schedule an appointment with an assessor within 24 business hours. Arriving early, with all of the correct paperwork, will improve your ability to receive a same-day assessment.

Adolescent assessments are offered on a walk-in basis (first come, first served), or adolescent assessment appointments may be scheduled by calling 704-376-7447.

Adolescent and Adult Walk-In Assessment Schedule
Monday through Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Assessment fees may apply, depending upon the situation. A representative from the finance department will meet with you prior to the assessment to discuss any possible fees and review eligibility for our sliding fee scale.  If you’d like more information before you arrive, please call 704.376.7447.  Our Assessment Checklist will provide valuable information for those considering an assessment appointment.
